12 Nov Volunteer of the Month – November 2018
Each month Retrieving Independence recognizes one of our dedicated volunteers. With a group of more than 50 active volunteers pouring love and training into our service dogs, we are forever indebted and grateful for these people!
This month we’d like you to meet Sandy Hull. At the November recipient camp and graduation, Sandy’s creativity made the recipients feel so loved by the RI community. On arrival they were given a personalized welcome basket and as a special gift at their graduation, they were presented with a collage of their new service dogs’ path to reach them!
We hope you enjoy reading her story as told by Sandy herself.
I moved with my 2 year old English golden retriever from Colorado about a year and half ago. I followed my heart here to TN to pursue a dream of helping people. My dog Lucy is going through training to become a therapy dog so we can visit nursing home. I was fortunate to find RI through my friend Claudia and it has been a blessing because I love working with dogs and have a special love for the disabled. I hope to purse and learn more about other fields that I can earn a living doing what I love.
